Body Helix is proud to announce that Erin Boynton, MD, has recently joined the Body Helix team as Medical Director. For the last sixteen years, Dr. Boynton has acted as the Medical Director for the Rogers Cup Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tennis tour. She is an orthopedic surgeon, expert medical witness, consultant to the Toronto Blue Jays, and past-chair of the research committee for the Canadian Orthopedic Foundation. In addition, Dr. Boynton is a nationally ranked tennis player.
Throughout her career as a surgeon and sports doctor, she has worked with many professional sports teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Argos, and she was the first female orthopedic surgeon to work in Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League.
“Dr. Boynton is the perfect addition to our team based on how she approaches injury management and recovery.” said Fred Robinson, Body Helix Chairman. “Our vision is to evolve the compression gear industry to better serve athlete and patient care globally. We created Body Helix compression gear because, as tennis players ourselves, we know that you don’t want to give up your sport due to an injury.” said Robinson. “Dr. Boynton’s expertise in both tennis and injury management will help our customers continue doing what they love.”
“I teach my patients how to use therapeutic movement to resolve the injury, and how to move differently to prevent it from happening again,” says Dr. Boynton. “Combining compression products with my philosophies on healing and movement will help to ensure that my patients return to their optimal level of performance.”
As Medical Director, Dr. Boynton will work closely on product development, product engineering and quality standards. She will also provide input and oversight for product and clinical product performance.
